East Cape Cycle Tour Easter 2006

Some pics from our tour round the east coast...

The trip round the east coast was fantastic! Those along for the ride included myself, Ben, Mike, Zane, Warren, Rich, Misty and Ces... We started the journey on Easter Thursday, venturing from Ohope Beach (although some of us started in Opotiki). The first day took us through Opape, Hawai and finally to Te Kaha, where we found accomodation for the night at a campground.

Aussie Open

January brought tennis fever, so Kane and I headed over to Melbourne to take in the sights and delights of the Australian Open.

The tennis was fantastic: saw all the big names including Federer, Baghdatis, Davenport, Sharapova and Henin-Hardin to name a few... Plus have seats 6 rows away from the court and a few metres from the players box certainly didn't hurt-prime picking for Kano to spot the cute girlfriends ; ).

We went to the night sessions so it allowed us to enjoy Melbourne during the day... when we weren't sleeping in anyway!

Other exploits included a whirlwind trip down the Great Ocean Road, including a stop-off at Bells Beach, koalas and the 12 Apostles; a trip to trendy St Kilda (minus the gay pride parade this year!); shopping; and an exhibition of Stanley Kubrick.

Temp was hot hot hot (with one cool day thankfully!), 43 degrees one day, which necessitated finding shade whereever we could, esp when waiting for trams , and the consumption of a lot of beverages and icy treats.
